The Henry Doorly Zoo has evolved from the small Riverview Park zoo, established in 1894, into a world class tourist attraction and a leader in environmental education. The Henry Doorly Zoo has many innovative facilities and exhibits to not only preserve a broad array of species, but also vividly present them to the public. These facilities are exemplary to zoos throughout the country and the globe.
The Mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom Pavilion,
Lozier IMAX Theater, and Cat Complex showcase fascinating wildlife and exotic places. The Scott Aquarium and Lied Jungle, Desert Dome, Kingdoms of the Night, Hubbard Gorilla Valley and Hubbard Orangutan Forest provide immersive environments that display animals in their natural habitats.
The Lee G. Simmons Conservation Park and Wildlife Safari displays Nebraska's wild as it once lived. Prairies, meadows, and wetlands create living classrooms for the curious naturalist and budding biologist.

Folsom Children's Zoo & Botanical Gardens
Lincoln, Nebraska
The Lincoln Children’s Zoo has been a part of the LIncoln community since 1965. The zoo features up-close viewing of more than 300 animals with the child's eye view in mind! Animals to see include Amur leopards, Bactrian camels, river otters, eagles, crocodiles, reindeer, naked mole rats and several species of primates.
One-third of the animals are threatened or endangered species. Watch for Harbor Seal demonstrations at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
The Critter Encounter area, pony rides, petting zoo and a trip around the zoo on the Z O & O Railroad are experiences to treasure. At the Butterfly Pavilion, open June through September, visitors can watch the butterflies and moths emerge from their chrysalis or cocoon state and they may even land on your head, shoulder or finger. Woven among and part of all the exhibits are botanical gardens featuring annuals, perennials, herbs and 50 types of trees. Plan to eat a meal or a snack at the Safari Cafe.
