125 acres of naturalistic exhibits, fine and performing arts, educational opportunities, and exciting animals. Located in Royal Oak, Michigan. The Detroit Zoo celebrates the diversity of our community by introducing, Summer Festivals at the Detroit Zoo…Like Nowhere Else. One ethnic group each month will be featured with a weekend of fun activities. On June 11 and 12, come to African American Festival. Watch special performances, taste authentic-style food and visit the African American Community Resource Area.

Potter Park Zoological Society
Lansing, MI

The Potter Park Zoological Society evolved from the Friends of the Zoo Society in 1986. It is the private, nonprofit, fundraising organization that raises the necessary monies to support the Zoo. The Zoological Society supports the Education Department, the Docent Association, the Teen Zookeeper Program, Zookambi (the summer school program), operates the concession stands, gift shop, and pony rides, and sponsors special events.

The PPZS Board of Directors is comprised of enthusiastic business people who donate their valuable time for the betterment of the Zoo. Members of the PPZS help in these endeavors by buying memberships, adopting animals, and donating their time as volunteers.

Our Mission

A nonprofit private sector organization dedicated to the support of the Potter Park Zoo: through preserving, protecting, and exhibiting selected members of the animal kingdom so that future generations of mankind may thrive in harmony with nature, and through providing a quality environment where visitors from all over may delight in the essence of a living earth. Education, recreation, and conservation together with zoo accreditation provide the strategic direction for the mission.

Zoo Hours for 2005 Season

March 1 through May 27, 2005: 9:00 am to 5 pm
May 28 through July 1, 2005: 9am to 6pm
July 2 through September 5, 2005: 9am to 7pm
September 6 through October 1, 2005: 9am to 5pm
November 1, 2005 through February 28, 2006: 10am to 5pm

Admission
Adults (Lansing Residents): $4.00 (must have photo I.D.)
Adults (non-residents): $6.00
Seniors 60 or over (Lansing Residents): $2.00 (must have photo I.D.)
Seniors 60 or over (non-resident): $3.00
Children 3-15: $2.00
Children under 3: FREE

Parking:
$3.00 per vehicle
Parking for oversize vehicles (weekends): $5.00
