Potter Park Zoological Society
Lansing, MI
The Potter Park Zoological Society evolved from the Friends of the Zoo Society in 1986. It is the private, nonprofit, fundraising organization that raises the necessary monies to support the Zoo. The Zoological Society supports the Education Department, the Docent Association, the Teen Zookeeper Program, Zookambi (the summer school program), operates the concession stands, gift shop, and pony rides, and sponsors special events.
The PPZS Board of Directors is comprised of enthusiastic business people who donate their valuable time for the betterment of the Zoo. Members of the PPZS help in these endeavors by buying memberships, adopting animals, and donating their time as volunteers.
Our Mission
A nonprofit private sector organization dedicated to the support of the Potter Park Zoo: through preserving, protecting, and exhibiting selected members of the animal kingdom so that future generations of mankind may thrive in harmony with nature, and through providing a quality environment where visitors from all over may delight in the essence of a living earth.
