Recognized as one of the nation’s leading aquariums, Audubon Aquarium of the Americas is located along the banks of the Mississippi River in the historic French Quarter. A visit to the Aquarium spans the underwater world of the Caribbean Sea, the mysterious Amazon Rainforest and the waters that give New Orleans its lifeblood: the Mississippi River and Gulf of Mexico.
With 10,000 animals representing 530 species, come see some of our all-time favorite exhibits including the Mississippi River gallery featuring catfish, paddlefish and alligators; the Caribbean Reef exhibit featuring a clear, 30-foot-long tunnel surrounded by aquatic creatures; and the Gulf of Mexico exhibit featuring sharks, sea turtles and stingrays. And make sure you get a peek at our animal presentations and feedings, in exciting spots as the Touch Pool, where visitors can touch a baby shark.
Discover the creatures of North and South America — underwater! Enter the Caribbean Reef through the Aquarium’s 30-foot-long aquatic tunnel where you’ll lurk with creatures of all shapes and sizes, surrounded by 132,000 gallons of water.

Zoo of Acadiana.
Broussard, LA.
The Zoo of Acadiana opened its doors to visitors in the town of Broussard, Louisiana in April of 1992. Exactly ten years later, in May of 2002, the Zoo was purchased by George and Marleen Oldenburg.
George and Marleen have been life-long animal lovers, enjoying a full house of three sons - Matthew, Michael, and Mitchell, two dogs, three cats, two horses, and a fish tank of gold fish - and that was before the "Zoo-life!"
When the opportunity to purchase the Zoo and, therefore, take a very active part in wild life conservation presented itself, George and Marleen could not pass it up! In addition to their house pets, George and Marleen now have over five hundred wild and exotic animals to keep up with - everything from Alligators to Zebras!
The Zoo of Acadiana is nestled on forty five acres of rolling landscape with a very natural setting and environment. Visitors are glad to see that our animals seem happy and content in their habitats and are not pacing and agitated. The Zoo's grounds are stocked with a "wild and crazy" Zoovenir Gift Shop, a convenient Critter Cafe' Concession Stand, the Jungle Junction Train Depot, and George's Jungle Room!
Visitors can walk our shaded pathways and view our animals in a very up-close-and-personal setting. In 2003, George designed the Maison de Reptile - a reptile house exhibiting beautiful snakes, iguanas, monitors, turtles, and baby alligators. Zoo patrons can feed a variety of primates, Koi fish, Geese, and can get down and playful in the Petting Zoo! Don't forget to get Lonesome, the Texas Longhorn Steer, to lick feed pellets from your hand with his extra long tongue!
For a real treat, ride the Antelope Express through one of our two African Savannas; riders can see several kinds of African hoofstock and visit Humphry, the Bactrain Camel!
The Zoo of Acadiana makes for a perfect family outing with its friendly atmosphere and beautiful animals from all around the world! Come and see us!
