The Waikiki Aquarium, founded in 1904, is the third oldest public aquarium in the United States. A part of the University of Hawaii since 1919, the Aquarium is located next to a living reef on the Waikiki shoreline.
Our exhibits, programs, and research focus on the aquatic life of Hawaii and the tropical Pacific. Over 2,500 organisms in our exhibits represent more than 420 species of aquatic animals and plants. Every year, roughly 350,000 people visit the Waikiki Aquarium.
The Aquarium offers a wide a variety of fun and educational activities for families and adults. Our Education Department offers day and night reef walks, Pacific diving/snorkeling trips and overnight Aquarium adventures featuring sharks, sea jellies and a special evening with the Director. The Waikiki Aquarium is located in Queen Kapiolani Park, on the southern shoreline of the island of Oahu, State of Hawaii. Situated at 2777 Kalakaua Ave. on the Diamond Head (east) end of Waikiki Beach, the Waikiki Aquarium is within easy walking distance of most Waikiki hotels. If you are unable to drive or walk to the Aquarium, you can catch the No. 2 City Bus (TheBus) and get off at the Aquarium, or you may take the Waikiki Trolley and exit at the Waikiki Aquarium stop. Generally, TheBus and the Waikiki Trolley stop every 15 minutes.

Admission rates are $9 for visitors; $6 for local residents, active duty military with ID, students with ID and senior citizens; $4 for Youths (13-17), and persons with disabilities; $2 for Juniors (5-12). Honolulu Zoo, Oahu.
Visit the 42-acre Honolulu Zoo and glimpse rare wildlife such as the Hawaiian nene goose, Francois monkeys and Galapagos tortoises. Conveniently located along Kalakaua Avenue between Waikiki and Diamond Head Crater, the zoo greets children with an attractive flamingo pond and an interactive petting zoo. Those visiting during the full moon (including days just before and after) should take advantage of the ever popular guided "Zoo by Moonlight" tours that offer an uncommon look of the habits of nocturnal animals. Parking for the zoo is located at the Kapahulu Avenue entrance and costs $0.25 per hour (metered). For a great family morning or afternoon, the Honolulu Zoo offers an educationally enlightening adventure that’s close to town.
Over 750,000 people visit the zoo annually. The institution is administered by the Honolulu Zoo Society, a non-profit organization, and is maintained by a corps of volunteers. The zoo is owned by the City & County of Honolulu through the Auditoriums Department.
The zoo is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. except Christmas and New Years. The children's zoo is closed 30 minutes earlier.

Children (6-12 yrs.): $1.00
(5 yrs. and down): FREE!
Family passes are $25.00 for two adults and any children under 17 living in that household.
Moonlight passes are $7.00 for 13 yrs. and up and $5.00 for children under 5. Moonlight and behind the scenes passes are held on the 20th, 21st, 22nd, and 23rd of each month when the moon is full. The times are from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
